Richmond Joins Regional Leaders for Wayne County Agency Day to Advance Strategic Investment Priorities

RICHMOND, IN – Representatives from the City of Richmond joined leaders from eight other local municipalities on April 21st for Wayne County Agency Day, a collaborative event sponsored by Forward Wayne County and the Wayne County Government.

The event served as a critical platform for Richmond to engage directly with key state and federal funding agencies, including the Indiana Department of Transportation (INDOT), the Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA), USDA Rural Development, and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC).

As one of the nine communities represented, Richmond leadership utilized the forum to showcase the city’s vision for growth. The primary objective was to align local needs with available state and federal resources, specifically focusing on the priority projects identified in the recently completed Strategic Investment Plan.

“This event provided an invaluable opportunity to put Richmond’s most impactful projects directly in front of the people who help fund them,” said Mayor Ron Oler. “By participating, we are ensuring that our priorities—ranging from infrastructure to economic development—are top-of-mind for our agency partners.”

Throughout the day, city officials participated in multiple sessions and one-on-one consultations to learn about upcoming grant cycles, low-interest loan programs, and technical assistance opportunities. The collaboration between Forward Wayne County, city and county government highlights a unified regional approach to securing the investment necessary to improve quality of life and economic vitality across the area.
