Become a Law Enforcement Officer!

To become a law enforcement officer with the Richmond Police Departments applicants must complete an application, meet position requirements and pass a series of hiring evaluations.

Salary: $47,713.21-$53,014.68

• Health Insurance
• Paid vacation and personal days

Certified Officers from other agencies can qualify for up to 5 years of longevity pay based on experience.

Police Officer Requirements

• Applicants must be a US Citizen and must be between the ages of 21 and 39 years of age.
• Applicants must be a High School Graduate (GED) at the time of hire.
• Applicants must have never been convicted of a felony or domestic violence.
• Applicants must pass a written exam, oral interview, physical agility test, background investigation, and CVSA (voice stress) test.
• Applicants must possess a valid Operator Driver’s license at the time of hire.

• Background Investigation
• CVSA (Voice Stress Test)

• All applications must be returned with copies of the required documentation listed within the application.  
• Applications must be notarized.
• Applications may be returned to the Richmond Police Department in person or by mail.
