RICHMOND, IN. –  The Richmond Parks and Recreation Department is excited to announce that they have  been awarded a $5,000 grant from Blue Buffalo and the General Mills Foundation Hometown Grantmaking Program to engage with our furry friends!

The General Mills Hometown Grantmaking Program is part of General Mills' commitment to communities that are home to manufacturing and other business operations, and Blue Buffalo is a part of the General Mills’ family. The purpose of this grant is to benefit pets and their owners and to support and enhance the Blue Buffalo mission: Love them like Family. Feed them like Family.

The Parks Department will seek to install approximately seven new dog waste stations for various park locations, replace current stations as needed, and restock waste bags.

Park Superintendent Denise Retz says, “We are very excited and honored to be a part of such a great opportunity and be chosen for this funding.  We love our partners at Blue Buffalo and wish to continue to work together to find creative and strategic ways to empower our community to engage our furry friends in our parks and open spaces. We are thankful to Blue Buffalo for supporting Richmond Parks and Recreation through the General Mills Foundation Hometown Grantmaking Program.”

The Parks Department invites the community and their pets to celebrate this award by attending The Summer Farmers Market in Elstro Plaza on Saturday, June 12th for Bring Your Dog to the Market Day, sponsored by Blue Buffalo.
