Municipal Building to Open as a Warming Station

December 22, 2022

Due to the forecasted bitter cold and dangerous windchill, the City of Richmond will open the Hutton Room of the Municipal Building as a warming station, available starting Thursday, December 22 at 8:00 p.m. The Municipal Building will be staffed by the Richmond Fire Department and other City Team volunteers to provide a warm, safe place for anyone in our community who needs to escape the cold weather.

The City Building will be open starting Thursday, December 22nd at 8:00 p.m. and will stay available as a warming station until Monday, December 26th at 8:00 a.m. If you need a warming station, or know of someone that does, please enter the South door (as seen in the photo below) and walk down the hallway to the Hutton Room.

Warming stations are intended for short-term use and will have minimal accommodations. The City Building will offer water and restrooms.

The Richmond Municipal Building is located at
50 N 5th St.
Richmond, IN 47374

You can call 211 at any time to get agencies available locally that can assist with overnight accommodations and assistance with meals and other necessities that may be needed to get past this cold spell and for day-to-day living, if you or someone you know someone needs assistance.

The City of Richmond is dedicated to keeping all its residents safe. We hope this warming station will help those in need during this time. If you have a question, please contact the Richmond Police Department non-emergency line at (765) 983-7247. If there is an emergency, please dial 911.
