City Holds Ribbon Cutting for New Recreational Trail

The newest section of Richmond’s trail system will officially open Friday, September 10 at 10:00 a.m.

The new half mile trailhead stretches from North 17thStreet along the East Fork of the Whitewater River to North 24thStreet. The section of trail is a part of the National Road Heritage Trail- a statewide trail system that is being developed. Once completed, the trail will run from Richmond to Terra Haute along US 40.

The trail is made possible by a $200,000 grant from the Indiana Department of Natural Resources. The Society for Preservation and Use of Resources (SPUR) provided a 20% match through land acquisition and community donations.

Richmond residents and members of the press are invited to the ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, September 10, 2021 at 10:00at the new N. 17th Street Trailhead.
