City/County Limit Access to Public Facilities and Programs

March 16, 2020

Effective immediately, City of Richmond and Wayne County governments are adjusting protocols in regards tocitizens and employee access to government buildings.

Access to City facilities:those entering the City Building will do so at the lower level through the Police Department lobby and undergo a brief health screening including a temperature check. Those with a fever of 99.6 degrees or higher will not be granted access to the building; this applies to citizens and employees. All other city-owned buildings will close access to the public. Roseview Transit and Para-transit will continue operations as scheduled. The Richmond Senior Center will close until further notice. All Parks-sponsored events, including the Farmer’s Market will be cancelled or postponed.

Mayor Dave Snow will issue an executive order suspending all sanitation late fees and disconnections until further notice, allowing citizens the opportunity to avoid City facilities. Those with questions regarding their sanitation bill or other arrangements should contact the Sanitation Department.

A Common Council meeting scheduled for Monday will proceed as planned. Citizens wishing to speak during the public comment portion must follow the same procedures laid out above to enter the City Building.

Access to County facilities:those entering the Wayne County Government Annex Building will do so through the South Doors connected to the parking lot. Those entering the Wayne County Courthouse will do so through the East Doors. Visitors and employees to those buildings will undergo a brief health screening including a temperature check. Those with a fever of 99.6 degrees or higher will not be granted access to either building. Wayne County officials are asking that citizens only enter buildings if absolutely necessary and to exhaust all other options such as internet and phone calls before traveling to County facilities. The Wayne County Fairgrounds offices will remain open; however, it is recommended that gatherings follow the Governor Holcomb’s recommendations. Those with court cases pending should contacts the courts directly with inquiries.
