Our Mission is to maintain and preserve the integrity of the City records relating to Common Council, Richmond Power and Light and the Board of Public Works and Safety documents and actions, all ordinances, resolutions, agreements, contracts, deeds and minutes and to make these records readily available to the citizens of Richmond, outside agencies, the general public and other City personnel.
The position of Municipal Clerk is the oldest position of public servants in local government. The profession traces back before Biblical times.
Municipal clerks have become the direct link between the residents of their community and their government and is often the first point of contact a citizen makes with Municipal Government, by e-mail, phone or over the counter.
The clerk is the historian of the community for the entire recorded history of the city and citizens in his or her care.
