Junior Fire Academy 2019
The JFA is a week-long day camp designed to allow kids from 6th grade to 8th grade the opportunity to explore and experience the unique world of the Fire Service. JFA is ran from Monday July 8th thru Friday July 12th from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm. Each day starts at the Richmond Fire Department Headquarters and then occurs at multiple locations in Richmond. The campers will get to experience everything from fighting a live fire to cutting up a car and removing a victim, all while learning the importance of EMS and all the other support services and tasks required to work in a life and death working environment. This camp is designed to allow the campers to truly experience everything HANDS-ON. The campers will be doing all the work with Firefighters and EMS supervising.
The cost of the JFA is $50 and is due upon invitation to camp. The campers will be provided with all needed safety equipment and gear, such as a helmet, gloves, eye protection, sweat pants, t-shirts, cinch sack for gear and lunch for the week.
The Junior Fire Academy is limited to 16 campers and is a competitive application process. Please make sure that you complete the application at the link below and submit it early. Applications are due by May 31st, 2019 @ 4:30.
